Friends!
Yes we had friends before but these were merely a way of bookmarking people.
We renamed that area to favourites and we now have REAL FRIENDS!
You can request to be someone's friend and they need to approve you. Once they do - you can see from one page when they update any of their content on the site such as pics, blogs or their profile.
You can also see other's friends through their profile or the "View Other's Friends" page.
You are also be able to receive a PM and thus email when your friends do stuff!!
